Bernida Reagan is the Director of Community and Client Relations with Merriwether Williams Insurance Services. Prior to joining the Merriwether firm, Ms. Reagan served as the founding Director of the Port of Oakland’s Division of Social Responsibility. In that capacity she was responsible for directing the Port’s community benefit and social equity programs which are designed to increase local participation in employment and business opportunities and environmental programming related to the Port’s activities. Ms. Reagan also served as the founding Director of the East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC). Established in 1988, EBCLC is a non-profit legal service office providing free legal services to low-income clients in the areas of housing, health, and economic justice.

 

In her current position, Ms. Reagan directs Merriwether Williams’ social responsibility programs, including technical assistance to small, local and minority businesses, policy and program development related to social, economic and environmental justice. Ms. Reagan serves on the boards of the Bay Area Black United Fund, YMCA of the East Bay, and the Oakland Private Industry Council, and the Advisory Boards of the Center for Social Justice at Boalt Hall School of Law (U.C. Berkeley), and Women’s Initiative for Self-Employment. She is passionately committed to equal opportunity and diversity and lectures frequently on social justice, human rights and economic development.
