Institute for Environmental Entrepreneurship

The Institute for Environmental Entrepreneurship was founded in 1999.  IEE created the Green MBA program, the first in the nation to teach business practices devoted to achieving environmental and social sustainability while maintaining a solid financial bottom line.  The program is located at Dominican University of California in San Rafael.

The Institute retains a strong relationship with the students, faculty and alumni of Green MBA, providing connections with businesses, government and the larger community.  IEE is the clearinghouse connecting MBA students to local employers through internships.

We created and manage the Sustainable Enterprise Cluster at the David Brower Center in downtown Berkeley, where many of the world’s leading environmental organizations are housed.  The Cluster is composed of 12 small organizations and consultants.  We have brought them together to share resources and knowledge among themselves and the other Brower Center tenants to make the world a better place for our children and grandchildren to inherit.

The Institute sponsors Enterprise Futures Network, a community of organizations and individuals helping to build enterprises that shape a green and sustainable future. EFN was launched in 2003 by business pioneers, and lecturers and students in UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering. Among its activities, EFN supports entrepreneurial programs at Stanford, UC Berkeley and Global Social Venture Competition by connecting students with practice-based mentors.
